This piece is obviously made of coils with a slab base. This vessel is relatively small at around 5" tall. The coils are mostly uniform with a couple of imperfections.
I used coils to keep the vessel structure pretty strong. I used the "Slip & Score" method to keep the coils in place. The coils also give it an element of design.
While making this coil vessel, I thought about my 7th grade ceramics class. I thought of this because we did coil vessels in 7th grade. I knew that there needed to be some sort of slip and score so I did that as well. My intention was to just make a functional vessel that didn't look too bad.
I believe that for the first vessel that I've done since 7th grade, it was pretty good. I like the fact that the coils are mostly uniform and they stuck together. If I had some more time with it, I would smooth out the excess score marks leftover and smooth out the base. Overall I'm satisfied with it.
